What is your "why"?
Yes, this blog is later than usual. That’s because I was off at the Founder Region Conference celebrating our achievements and learning with many of you. Now, I am back.
Conference and the beginning of a new club year always make me think about why I am a Soroptimist and what I can do to maximize the value of my membership to myself and to others. I urge you to do the same.
As to the “whys,” seeing the faces and hearing the stories of our Live Your Dream and Fellowship awardees as well as seeing members/friends who I have not seen for a while. Those are things that keep me going and make me want to do more. What about you?
Is this the year you will take on a new leadership role or recommit to a role you’ve had before? Is this the year that words of encouragement you say to another member causes her to stay a Soroptimist? Is the year that your smile at an award winner sticks in her head as she deals with the challenges of her life? Is this the year that someone will encourage you and make you feel good about some Soroptimist work you have done? I hope your year is all those things.
I’ll start. I think all of you and your Soroptimist are amazing. I can’t think of any better group of people.
Be in touch.
