Happy New Year!

The end of a year is usually a time to reflect on all the wonderful events that have occurred over the last 12 months, and to start planning activities for the upcoming year; but 2020 was NOT a typical year.  This is the perfect time to “Forget the Past and Celebrate a New Start with Renewed Hope, Happiness and Positivity!”  Although many unforeseen lessons were learned in 2020, and our members overcame many challenges, let us focus on a new start in 2021.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Soroptimist and SIA has lots of surprises in store for us.  Our organization has been serving women and girls for almost a century and we have much to celebrate and of which to be proud. Clubs will have resources such as a “Celebration in a Box”, which will offer many ideas for local celebrations and public awareness.  Be sure and follow SIA on social media and make sure they have your email address on file so that you don't miss out on any anniversary news! #Soroptimist100

Next, let’s focus on a renewed hope that we can get back to our mission of helping women and girls. They need us now more than ever and every one of us can make a difference.  The service we give to others brings meaning to our lives and a sense of purpose.  By helping women and girls live their best life, we are spreading happiness in the world for generations yet to come.  The positivity we share with others spreads like ripples in a pond, reaching far beyond our imagination.  Like Mahatma Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”  Let us be that change and continue the good work that 8 women started nearly 100 years ago.

Our clubs have overcome many obstacles this past year and are doing remarkable things in their communities. I am inspired by our members every day and so proud to be your Governor as we face these challenges together and continue to “Dream BIG for the future!”
